Welcome to the tech team!
We are a team of engineers that enjoy exploring new tech, discussing codecs and developing a new standard of delivering images and videos online.
Our journey
Tech is at the core of everything we do, and this is where our innovative ideas come to life. We have the best developers in the industry, who have the ability to turn our visions into reality.
So, why join the SeenThis Tech Team? We can break it down into three parts: the Products, the Tech and the People. 🚀
The products
With our groundbreaking adaptive streaming technology, we are transforming the distribution of digital content, to increase performance and reduce impact on the climate. 🌱
Today, our technology is first and foremost used for digital advertising, but we’ve just launched products for online retailers where load speed and quality of video and images on e-com sites are of equally high importance for great conversion rates.
We love challenges!
We are using videos for everything these days: for advertising, e-commerce, cooking instructions, and even job posting.
But how will current tech infrastructure be able to handle this tsunami of heavy video files, without reducing the experience for users who are expecting short load times and perfect quality?
This is one of the epic questions you will help the world resolve, as a developer at SeenThis.
More epic questions for SeenThis developers:
- How can we reduce the bandwidth required without compromising visual quality?
- How can we build infrastructure that is inherently scalable?
- How do we handle massive requests / second and pipe that data into client dashboards in real time?
The tech
- JavaScript, Node.js, Typescript
- Vue.js, Svelte.js, React.js
- Postgres, MySQL, Fastify
- GraphQL
- GCP
- Docker, Kubernetes
And more!
The people
In our team we have 24/7 coders, amateur chefs & DJs, adrenaline seekers and wakeboarders. What unites us is our interest for video compression, our sense of humor and of course our favorite tv show “Silicon Valley”.
We appreciate a fast-forward mindset, but we always want to balance quality and quick delivery. SeenThis is in a scale-up phase and we have ambitious goals, but we also value flexibility (for example the possibility of picking up the kids in time, having time to do that much-needed workout and some spare time for creativity).
Our tech team works closely with both product owners and the sales department, which creates a sense of togetherness and working towards a common goal. We have daily stand ups and agile tools that help us structure our priorities and our way of working.
We are growing and have probably a lot to learn in our journey forward! But our philosophy is “as long as we hire the right people, have a development mindset and add a bit of humor - we’ve come a long way”!
Recruitment
Diversity is key when it comes to being innovative and dynamic! Our goal is to recruit team members who will feel right at home and thrive in our working environment. Personality and ambition beat a heavy resume, period.
How?
▫️Arranging for candidates to meet at least 3-4 team members
▫️Offering the opportunity to be part of the tech team for a day
▫️Offering tech internships
Tech culture
-
Cooperation
Working closely with other teams generates significant value. However, it doesn’t always come for free — it’s something that requires careful attention.
How?
▫️ Project-based teams
▫️ Creating forums for cooperation
▫️Hosting hack days/hackathons across departments
-
Work environment
Maintaining a working climate where you feel respected and listened to is essential. You should be able to fail and learn from it. We deliver as a team. We also appreciate some fun and games from time to time!
How?
▫️Running things together
▫️Incorporating more mob programming
▫️Hosting events & meetups
-
Innovation & Product Development
Since product development is a highly creative profession, keeping an innovative spirit is essential. We strive to give our users and customers the best experience possible.
How?
▫️Exploring new products
▫️Investigating new technologies (e.g. new codecs)
▫️A/B testing new features
▫️Using data-driven development
▫️Developing our “design thinking”
