Senior Data Engineer
Join us as a Senior Data Engineer and own the data platform behind open-web video advertising — billions of streams, governed models at scale, real ownership from day one.
Senior Data Engineer
Help build and take real ownership of the data platform behind proof, insights and optimisation in open-web video advertising, processing billions of video streams and hundreds of billions of events.
About SeenThis
The open web has massive untapped advertising potential, but video has historically underperformed here. SeenThis is changing that. As a video advertising partner, we prove the open web delivers exceptional results, capturing more attention with cost-effective video that keeps publishers profitable and the internet independent. Since 2017, we've served billions of streams for 5,000+ brands across 50+ countries.
We believe brands deserve reach wherever audiences are, publishers deserve sustainable revenue, and the internet deserves to stay open.
Our team of 130+ employees works globally from offices in Stockholm, Oslo, London, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, New York and Sydney. We're expanding across all teams and looking for people who want to make a real impact in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
Do you want to be part of our journey, where we dare to discover, own it and win together?

About the role
You'll join our R&D organisation, where Product, Engineering, Design, Data and Infrastructure work together across three product streams: Core Tech, our streaming, delivery and measurement technology; Studio, our production system for advertising; and Creative Manager, the workflow and orchestration layer around campaign execution.
Data works across all three and supports teams across SeenThis, turning product, operational, commercial and financial data into governed models, shared definitions, reporting and insight.
The data team today consists of a lead data engineer, who built the platform and leads its technical direction, and a data analyst working closely with teams across reporting, insight and the business.
You'll be the second data engineer, with substantial hands-on responsibility for running and evolving the platform and its governed models, and a real say in where we go next.
The platform was rebuilt over the past year and now runs in production across high-volume streaming and event data, alongside product, campaign, CRM and finance data.
You'll thrive here if you enjoy shaping the solutions and how to build them rather than just executing against a fixed spec, partner naturally with business stakeholders to get at the real problem before reaching for a technical solution, and take initiative to move things forward.
Our stack includes Python and SQL, Airflow 3 on GKE, GCS and S3, BigQuery, ClickHouse, and Terraform across GCP and AWS. We use AI tools in engineering where they add value, backed by the fundamentals to judge their output.
What you'll do
Run and evolve the data platform end to end, from ingestion through transformation, modelling and serving.
Make it reliable without constant attention through data-quality checks, monitoring and alerting, idempotent pipelines, backfills and repair tooling.
Work with data of very different shapes and scales, from high-volume events to third-party APIs, operational databases and files.
Build and evolve governed models, onboard new sources, retire legacy paths and expand self-service through curated datasets.
Build the trusted data products behind campaign reporting, commercial and financial reporting, billing and reconciliation, product insight and operational decision-making.
Work directly with teams across SeenThis to identify what data can do for them and shape ambiguous problems into valuable use cases. You will not wait for someone to hand you a finished spec.
Improve how we build and operate the platform, including using AI where it adds clear value.
Who you are
You have substantial experience building and operating production data platforms, with strong Python and advanced SQL.
You have built and run orchestrated data pipelines in production. Airflow experience is strongly preferred.
You have worked with cloud environments at a meaningful scale, ideally GCP.
You have built data lakes, data warehouses and complex dimensional models.
You think operationally and build for long-term reliability, data quality, performance and cost efficiency.
You have taken meaningful end-to-end responsibility for production systems and work well independently in a small senior team.
You use AI tools pragmatically in your engineering work and have the fundamentals to judge their output.
You communicate clearly and leave systems, code and technical decisions understandable for the people working on them next.
Bonus if you have experience with
ClickHouse, Kubernetes/GKE or Terraform.
High-volume event, impression or streaming data.
Ad tech, martech, media measurement or another commercially complex data domain.
Decommissioning legacy systems, or building AI/LLM-backed tooling or data products.
Application
If you're close on most of this and strong where it counts, we'd rather hear from you than not.
As we review applications and interview continuously, please apply as soon as possible. Due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to provide personalised feedback prior to the interview stage. Thank you for understanding!
